OUR HISTORY

Hewitt Group Inc. was formed in late 2017 following the sale of Hewitt Equipment Limited, the operating company of the Hewitt family since 1952.

Jim Hewitt and his son David determined that forming a direct private equity group was the best way to remain active investors and builders in the Eastern Canadian economy.

HEWITT EQUIPMENT LTD
Hewitt Equipment Limited sold, rented and serviced the full line of Caterpillar products
through five divisions: Heavy Equipment, Material Handling, Energy, Trucks and Agricultural.
Hewitt’s other subsidiaries included Hewitt Material Handling Inc. (Ontario),
Hewitt Rentals Inc. (Quebec, Western Labrador and Maritimes), Montréal Hydraulique 04 Inc.
and SITECH Atlantic Ltd. (Maritimes). The Company was also the dealer for Maschinenbau Kiel GmbH (MaK) for Québec, the Maritimes, and the Eastern seaboard of the United States, from Maine to Virginia.
SERVING EASTERN CANADA
The Company was the authorized Caterpillar Dealer for the province of Québec and
Western Labrador, and, since 1995, through its subsidiary,
Atlantic Tractors & Equipment Ltd., the Cat Dealer for the Maritime provinces.
The Company, and all subsidiaries was sold in October 2017 to Toromont Cat, the Caterpillar Dealer in Ontario and Manitoba.
At the time of sale, there were 48 branches, with headquarters in Pointe-Claire and over 2,100 employees.

Hewitt Equipment Limited was recognized for its motto of
Service par Excellence and helping each customer reach their business goals.
Thanks to the far-reaching network, the Company could guarantee quick delivery of parts and had specially trained
Cat equipment technicians available to help service machines and ensure little downtime
– crucial for business owners of every size.
